THE ORIGIN OF NORDIC BASE,
LÉNA ARNAUD'S VISION
Behind Nordic Base, there's a mountain and Nordic enthusiast:
Léna Arnaud, a former biathlete.
After several years with the French national team, Léna decided to give a new meaning to her sport:
to pass on, share and help others discover Nordic skiing in a different way. Her career as a top-level sportswoman taught her rigor, technique and a taste for effort.
But above all, it revealed to her the most precious qualities of the mountains: calm, balance, reconnection with oneself and with nature.
This desire gave rise to Nordic Base, a Nordic school based in Val d'Isère,
, which offers a different approach to winter mountaineering.
"We wanted to create a place where everyone could find their place:
those who don't ski downhill, families, friends, the curious, the sporty, the contemplative...
Here, Nordic skiing becomes a space of freedom and discovery, far removed from the crowds."
With cross-country skiing, you learn to slide, breathe and progress at your own pace.
With biathlon, you laugh, challenge yourself and share a unique experience with friends,
as a couple or as a family.
Two complementary disciplines: one soothes, the other brings people together.
Léna has known Val d'Isère since she was a child.
While her family was enjoying the resort's legendary slopes, she was shooting in the Manchet valley in preparation for upcoming competitions.
An exceptional setting, perfect snow, grandiose nature and rare silence.
"I've always said to myself: this place is a Nordic treasure."
This conviction gave rise to the idea of (re)discovering Val d'Isère in a different way, through cross-country skiing and biathlon.
